To achieve the best possible results while buffing, kindly consider the following recommendations and suggestions:

  • Select the appropriate compound based on the metal you are polishing.
  • Achieving the desired outcome might involve a multi-step polishing process, typically 2 or 3 steps.
  • Before polishing, ensure that the parts to be polished are smooth and clean, and use the suitable abrasive to eliminate any lines or scratches.
  • Avoid using different compounds with the same buff. If unavoidable, make sure to thoroughly clean and remove any hardened compound residue on the buff's surface edge using a buff rake.
  • It's important to segregate buffs for various metals like Gold, Silver, Brass, etc. Whenever possible, refrain from using the same buff for all metals. If needed, clean the buffs with a buff rake.
  • Always maintain a clean buffing wheel edge.
  • Let the buff and compound perform their intended functions; excessive force or pressure can hinder the process.
  • When working with Platinum, never use a buff that was previously used for another type of metal.

Note:

  • Working with rotary motors and wheels can be hazardous without proper safety procedures. Please protect yourself, your fingers, and hands, as well as your face and eyes. It is highly recommended to use respirators, and wearing an apron or smock is also advisable.
